Our History
ECO Outdoor Sports, our mission is to have the best group of people working for us who shares the same passion and focus of holding our customers best interest at heart in providing them with a great selection of quality merchandise from the best brands that meets real needs and looks great.
Our humble beginning came together in 1997 when a group of professional individuals from various backgrounds got together to open an outdoor store. They had no previous retail experience but shared some common passions; living an active life enjoying the outdoors, pushing the limits in what they did and using gear and clothing from quality great brands they identified with like The North Face, Patagonia, Sierra Design and Royal Robbins.
ECO Outdoor Sports founders also believed that great performance outdoor apparel should not be just limited to men. Remember, when they opened their doors in 1997, a lot of performance outdoor apparel was only made in unisex sizing. This meant fitting women in XS men’s cut outerwear. They made a commitment from the beginning to focus on buying women specific clothing that fit women and to fairly dedicate half of ECO Outdoor Sports store to women specific performance and lifestyle apparel. Little did we know that we were ahead of an industry trend that was to follow six years later. We at ECO Outdoor Sports offer a great selection of men and women specific performance outdoor apparel for all your outdoor fun and enjoyment.
The original founders also knew from personal experience that the apparel and equipment they owned from the brands they loved were made of quality withstanding years of use and enjoyment. This meant that products from these brands like The North Face, Patagonia, Sierra Designs and Mountain Hardwear and such offered great value to their consumers unsurpassed by others. We at ECO Outdoor Sports still focuses on offering our customers the best selection of great quality merchandise from the best brands that offer superb value.
Due to the lack of retail experience and buying on personal taste, the founders took more chances by buying broader product assortments instead of following the rules of only buying products that would sell offering fewer choices but just more of the same items. This forced the original store merchandising to be more of a boutique but offered our customers a wider and broader range of selections. “Our customers will never come to our stores and see rows and rows of the same thing. Our commitment is to make their shopping experience more fun by offering them more choices.?We continue to offer our customers the greatest and most unique selection of outdoor, active and lifestyle apparel by buying in breadth and selection. The natural growth of our four retail stores now offer us the ability to back up our stock with depth.
The diverse professional background of the founders brought together a group of individuals that believed in professionalism in the way they approached retail. This transposed into a culture of harnessing great people who are passionate and enjoy helping people. We are focused on treating each and every employee as an individual and to develop those employees?innate talents to be the best that they can be to serve our customers. We hold our associates accountable for their conduct on the selling floor to provide our customers with friendly, knowledgeable, professional and fun shopping experience.
