Eco Outdoor Sports / The North Face are Proud Sponsors of Summits of Hope

Summits of Hope provides the adventure of a lifetime ...
While making a difference for kids.

Established in 1999, Summits of Hope is an officially registered not for profit association. We are also an official partner of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. We think the Children's Hospital is a great place to donate the funds we raise. They fund some of the best research in the world, improve the quality of life of sick children, educate and provide care for those children who need it most.

Our plans for the future are very exciting. As the reputation of our group grows, we are able to offer our climber/fundraisers incredible value in totally unique adventure travel, mountaineering expeditions. In addition to helping promote care, advocacy, research and education at BC Children's Hospital, we guarantee that your trip will be an experience of a lifetime!

Our most popular climb of all time -- KILIMANJARO -- returns for the fall of 2014. And we are actively accepting climbers NOW, so be sure to hold your spot as soon as possible... this one is filling up!

"It was early in January 2007 when I attended my first meeting at BC Children’s Hospital to learn about Summits of Hope and what it would be like to climb with the organization and raise money for the kids at BCCH.  Although both the fundraising and climbing seemed daunting, I took the plunge and joined the team.

This decision was one of the best I have made in my life.

Being a part of Summits of Hope has allowed me to give a little back to my community, to reach my own goals, to meet wonderful, inspiring people, and to see many parts of the world I may not have otherwise seen. I have now climbed volcanoes in Ecuador, Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa, and will soon set out for Everest Base Camp in Nepal.

None of these climbs would have been the same without the support of The North Face. Finishing a long day of trekking on Kilimanjaro and seeing camp full of the yellow North Face tents, slipping on my down North Face jacket to stay warm (my all time favorite jacket!), and zipping into my -20 North Face Down sleeping bag…these are all memories that made the long, cold days and nights manageable….some might even say fun! The North Face has provided us with tons of awesome gear, marketing and fundraising support. They have helped Summits of Hope run successful climbs since 2001 , allowing us to raise close to $2 million dollars for BC Children’s Hospital."

"Life is full of change, but for 20 years of skiing, climbing and biking "The North Face" has remained a proven brand. The North Face is my preferred brand because they continuously design products that are functional and perform outdoors. I'm a North Face fan, but there's another reason I'm loyal to the North Face.

On May 23, 2007 my son Beckett was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a blood cancer that affects 7 out of 100,000 children and is the most common form of childhood cancer. Beckett endured 3.5 years of chemotherapy, so upon completion of his treatment, I joined Summits of Hope's trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp to raise money for BC Children's Hospital. To my surprise and excitement "The North Face" supports the efforts of Summits of Hope climbers! This gave me the opportunity to use my North Face gear on a trek that most of us have only seen pictures of.

From sleeping bags, to packs, duffle bags, and jackets, "The North Face" helped us reach our goal of trekking to Everest Base Camp and raising money for BC Children's Hospital. This is why I'm a loyal "North Face" customer.

Today, at age 7, my son Beckett is in remission, and testing his own North Face gear as he mimics the skiing of his favorite North Face athlete,  Dana Flahr."

"If you like a personal challenge as well as a socially responsible venture to help kids at BC Children's Hospital - then Summits of Hope's expeditions may be for you. My first experience with Summits of Hope was in the fall of 2010 when we trekked to Everest Base Camp and raised over $150,000 for the cancer ward at BCCH. As a principal of an elementary school, I appreciate all things to do with learning and this adventure was a new day every day, exciting from the day we flew into the Himalaya, to the very last step into Base Camp. To be walking amidst 8000m giants in the natural beauty of this region, to trekking through the rich Buddhist culture more or less untouched by western influences, and to be working in a organized team made this an unforgettable experience in addition to a photographer's dream. The journey itself started 6 months prior with all the fundraising that was as enjoyable as the trip. In fact, to unfurl the many Flags of Hope at Base Camp with everyone's personal messages of good will, gave me the energy and courage to take on this focus and task. The whole experience never felt like work; when I think of all the time and energy I put into it, I feel like I got so much out of the experience.  I will retain a lifetime of memories and connections because of it. Importantly, I want to thank North Face for their positive connection and contributions for the climbers to get off on the right foot with our Summits of Hope Everest Base Camp 2010 trek! TNF outfitted us with the physical gear we needed for this journey, and coupled with their mantra, "Never Stop Exploring," also offered the mental encouragement we needed reach our goal."

"North Face gear takes me skiing, hiking, and day to day moving around.  When I go climbing with Summits of Hope to places like Aconcagua, Mt Elbrus, Cotopaxi or Kilimanjaro, North Face gear is everywhere. From tents and jackets, to boots, bags, hats and mitts, our North Face equipment  is indispensible.  When you are a long way from nowhere, being warm and dry cannot be taken for granted!  North Face has been a big part in getting many climbers to the summit, and reaching their goals in raising money for BC Children's Hospital.  When I depart this year to Nepal, the North Face is coming with me.

I'm looking to having another great experience!!"
